MarkItDown is Microsoft's Python tool for converting files (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML, images, audio, EPub, ZIP, YouTube URLs) into Markdown suited to LLMs. The repo also ships markitdown-mcp, an MCP server so agents can convert documents on demand.
